FRANKLIN, Maine — A Franklin man remained hospitalized Wednesday after being injured in a collision on Georges Pond Road.

Trooper Chris Smith of the Maine State Police said Justin Brenton, 19, was injured Tuesday afternoon when the motorcycle he was driving struck an ATV.

Brenton was headed north on Georges Pond Road about a quarter mile from the Route 182 intersection when the accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Smith said Brenton was traveling behind the ATV, which was operated by a 16-year-old boy from Franklin. When the ATV made a left-hand turn, the motorcycle collided with it.

Brenton was thrown from the motorcycle. He suffered multiple injuries including serious internal injuries, Smith said. He was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, then transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

The teenage driver of the ATV and his 15-year-old passenger, also of Franklin, both received minor injuries in the accident.

All three people were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

The crash remained under investigation Wednesday.
